Sports betting activity in Michigan experienced a significant decline of 30% in February, attributed to the conclusion of football season and lackluster performance of the Detroit Pistons. The state’s gaming control board reported a total wager amount of $415.8 million for the month, with online sportsbooks accounting for $402.6 million of the handle.

Despite the drop in wagers, Michigan’s sports betting market remains robust, showing a 16% year-over-year growth. FanDuel emerged as the leading operator, although it experienced a notable decrease in bets compared to January. Other major players like DraftKings also saw declines, but they still managed to exceed $100 million in wagers.

On the retail side, ESPN Bet’s Greektown Casino recorded the highest activity, surpassing FanDuel’s MotorCity Casino. However, Greektown was the only physical sportsbook to generate profits. Overall, despite the dip in betting activity, Michigan’s sports betting market continues to show resilience and potential for growth.
